Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am honored and humbled to teach an amazing group of hardworking and determined kindergarteners. My students attend a Title I school on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. My students come from low-income communities, and all receive free or reduced lunch. Many of my students are learning English as their second language and some are the only person in their family to read and speak English. We will be working hard all year to achieve our big goal of reaching first grade!

At the young age of 5, my students are already demonstrating grit and determination that will get them to and through college.

My Project

Field trips are an integral part of a child's education. Many of my students have not had the privilege to travel outside of Manhattan. They will get a chance to learn about the life cycle of the pumpkin and explore plant seasonality. They will also be able to pick their own pumpkins and take a hayride where they will see all of the animals on the farm.

This trip would allow us to experience nature and life outside of the Big Apple!

My students will gain experiences and will expand their boundaries outside of the hustle and bustle of the big city.
