This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember sitting in a classroom and not being able to see what was on the board. Now multiply this by 10, because today's students' are using the whiteboard system. With the cheap markers available everywhere, they cannot see the writing clearly on the board or even participate on the board.

My students are in a very high needs school that have a very low budget.

Most are in single parent families or being taken care of by a guardian. Most of my students are not so concerned about school, but rather if they will get fed and be loved when they get home. Most rather stay in school because we provide a better environment for them

My Project

I have tried markers of all types/brands. Students routinely request that I use the "good" markers, but it's so expensive that it's difficult to to purchase. Countless times students have tried to show work on the board (mathematics) and they got frustrated from the markers and had to put them down.

Without these quality markers, i can see an adversely more difficult year.

Something this simple can make a big difference in a classroom. A classroom that has the correct balance of resources will have happy students.
