My Students

My first graders come from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds with different perspectives and experiences. They are English language learners, and students with and without disabilities. Most of them are from low socioeconomic households and qualify for free lunch. We are part of a Title I public school in New York City.

Even with the challenges that come from the current pandemic, my first graders are challenging themselves to be the best that they can be as students and as human beings.

My first graders are inquisitive and avid learners. They are inspirations to themselves and others around them. I am very proud of their perseverance, striving, and hard work. Please help me make sure they have the materials they need to keep learning and growing.

My Project

My first graders are in need of extra quality headphones that they can use during ZOOM, reading, and writing periods.

This project will make a difference for all of my first graders because they do not need to worry about forgetting their headphones at home and not having a pair to use in school to ZOOM, read, listen to, and do research independently and quietly.

Students use educational and engaging apps such as Epic and YouTube Kids to read, listen to, do research, and improve their overall reading and writing skills. They also ZOOM on their iPads. The sounds compete for attention and can be distracting, so we need quality headphones for quiet learning.
