Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I work with a wonderful group of 3 and 4 year old Pre-K students in a high need school. The children love to listen to stories on a daily basis and often want to learn how to read the books themselves.

Our class needs quality read aloud books that children will enjoy hearing and can learn story comprehension from. We also need books that can teach us to learn sight words for the children who are ready to read on their own. We need books that are fun and appropriate for this age. We need books that will be enjoyable enough to motivate us to read more books and become fluent, avid readers. We need your help to get these books. Unfortunately, books can be very expensive and with the budgets cuts, the school nor I can afford to buy them. They just cut the little money teachers get to purchase things on their own by 40% and now every penny we can use counts.

Quality literature for classrooms is so important because reading these books is proven to make these children more successful readers. When a child hears a story they love, they just want more, more, more! My job is to make these children life long lovers of literature and you can help me make that a reality.

You will make it possible for my students (and future students) to have the quality books they need to become wonderful readers. Your generosity will bring smiles to the children's faces when they laugh at a funny story they are listening to or they read a sentence on their own for the very first time. Please help our class get the books we need! Thank you for any help you can give!
