Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My kindergarten students love working on puzzles during free choice time. Working alone or in small groups, they relish the challenge of completing a puzzle.

The puzzles requested will help my students with problem solving, decision making, deferring gratification and dealing with mistakes.

Solving puzzles develops eye-hand coordination, promotes problem- solving and decision making skills while also improving fine motor skills; all of which are extremely important at this age. Our current puzzles are so loved and used that they have become worn out and damaged. If we get new puzzles we can get rid of the old worn-out puzzles. These new puzzles will not only help students develop their language arts and math skills but will also promote social skills and group work.

Most of my students are learning English, therefore these items will also give my students the chance to practice speaking English with their classmates in a fun and playful way.
