My Students

Preschool is the most exciting, and rewarding place to spend my day. I am surrounded by fun loving, super excited children between the ages of 3 and 4 years old, who love to explore the world around them. Each day we explore with blocks, do science experiments, paint, get messy, dress up, and go to "Dunkin Donuts", or the "zoo", the "doctor's office", or anywhere else their imaginations take them. One of the favorite centers in our class is our sensory station, where we have sand and water, and different tools for measuring, scooping, excavating, and again, anything else their imaginations can dream up.

Our kids have so many interests, and are so excited to explore in new ways each, and every day.

My Project

Sensory play in an early childhood classroom can look, and feel like so many different things. Filling a tray with sand, and hunting for "buried treasure" in the form of shapes, numbers, and letters, using different tools is a great way for strengthening working memory, fine motor skills, and Kindergarten Readiness. Using things like tweezers, scoops, strainers, and sometimes just our hands, leads to so many learning experiences, as well as providing much needed sensory input for young children.

In light of COVID, we can no longer have a sensory center, so by setting up individual sensory stations, this gives my favorite little friends the chance to partake in a very important part of early childhood education.
