Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a kindergarten teacher at an urban school district. I have 22 students in my class. Everyday there are many issues that we face in the classroom. Our students are in need of manipulatives to help them visualize as well as have hands on experience on what we are learning.

As I would like to call it, "We Are All Out of Pieces!!! Our class is in need of manipulatives for our centers. Our class needs language arts, math and science manipulatives to help us learn and reach various learning objectives.

The manipulatives we need will help us in three subject areas. The language arts materials are magnetic letters, alphabet puzzles, sight word cards which will help us identify the letters, sounds, sight words,rhyming words and sentence building. These are key factors for students to learn how to read and write. The math manipulatives such as colored chips, patterning trays, and counting manipulatives; will help our class learn to count, have 1 to 1 correspondence, build graphs and sort objects by attributes. The science kits will helps our class with the themes that we are learning in class such as hands on experiments with the seasons and the life cycles of animals. Manipulatives enable to the students to learn.

I think that the manipulatives are so important for the students because it helps them learn better as well as giving them the hands on experience. Our class loves hands on learning!
