This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
This semester my students are diving into the criminology world. (Just for fun, right?!) They are going to learn all about forensics and a breakdown of items these scientists use to help solve mysteries/crimes. We are going to look at finger printing (analyze our own prints and then compare them among our peers). We are then going to study the process of lifting print from specific objects. Then we’re going to dive into the world of chromatography and see how it helps to solve problems in cases. After that we plan to take a deep look at various hair samples that would be marked as evidence to hopefully help ourselves solve the crime. These kits will allow for us to make all of these goals possible in our unit.
What we learn from these kits and cases will help us to create our own fractured fairytale “whodunnit?”
And what better to learn about following clues and using deductive reasoning by playing some rounds of Guess Who. This should surely spark their interest in the beginning of our unit!
