My Project

My students love getting to work on new projects! Throughout the year we work on several big projects. Some examples of these projects are: Balloons Over Broadway- students get to design and create a float/balloon and then we have a big parade through the school. Black History Month research- Students get to choose 1 African American and do a research project over that person. They use paper mache to create their person. Animal Habitats- after learning about the different types of habitats throughout the world, students choose 1 animal to research. Then they make a diorama of the animal's habitat.

All of these projects are student-led.

Meaning each student gets to come up with their own unique idea and create the project using what they have brainstormed. I try to keep recyclable materials such as boxes, toilet paper rolls, scrap paper, etc available to use during every project. These materials- construction paper, glue, tape, pens, etc would help add to each student's ideas. The more materials they have available to them, the better they can carry out their visions.

One of the best things is watching a student's ideas come to life and their hard work pay off. All of the these materials would help each child succeed with their projects.
