This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are naturally curious Scientists and Engineers in training! They come to my classroom full of many gifts and talents and as a S.T.E.A.M. teacher, I want to harness their love for expressing themselves visually through art as well.

Some students have special learning styles and so expressing themselves (and what they know during a science lesson) is best accomplished using art.

Imagine being a talented singer but you are told to only express yourself using a musical instrument-- this is how some of my students feel; they are talented in the visual arts but are being forced to express themselves solely through grammatically correct scientific writing.

My Project

My students are naturally talented in the arts, but I find my new S.T.E.A.M. (Science Technology Engineering ART Mathematics) classroom is lacking basic supplies for students to make their understanding of Science come alive. Students usually work in teams of 4, so some supplies I requested are per-team quantities, while some supplies must be per-student.

I want all of my students to be able to express a Science concept through use of art.

Help me put some ART back in S.T.E.A.M. so that every child will have access to a science curriculum that is rich in both science content and their own interpretations of it!
