Help Ms. Sanders

Hardwick Elementary is a rural K-6 school set in the farm country of Vermont. Hardwick is considered "The Gateway to the Northeast Kingdom" of Vermont and is surrounded by beautiful mountains, forests and farmland. Students at our school are bright, happy and excited to be part of the instrumental music program. I have three fourth grade classes that have been introduced to band instruments. Of the 45 students who were shown instruments, 40 of them wanted to play in beginning band this year. I currently have 12 students who still need an instrument. I am doing extensive grant writing, donation requests and borrowing from other schools, but we are still short and these 12 students are desperately wanting to play. Our school only owns a few band instruments and they are being used by students this year. I would like to build an inventory of instruments for beginning band students to use. This would relieve the financial burden from parents and allow them to save money to purchase or rent an instrument during 5th and 6th grade - when they know that their student wants to continue playing for a number of years. I would like to add one clarinet to our inventory. It is a popular instrument and one that would be used year after year. By building our inventory one instrument at a time, I hope to be able to put an instrument into the hand of EVERY student who wants to play - regardless of their financial situation. By helping fund my project, you can help students discover the joy of making music, help instill a sense of self-respect and self-confidence and allow my students to perform on an instrument they believe they cannot afford.
