Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a public school located in Washington Heights in Manhattan. We have a large hispanic, special education and English Language learner population.

The vision at our school is that all members of the school community will be treated with equality, dignity, and respect.

We must engage students actively in the learning process while they are working to achieve their full potential as competent, respectful, socially responsible citizens. We must facilitate academic excellence by enabling all students to attain maximum academic achievement.

My Project

We are excited to be a pilot school for NYC's SepJr Program which is promoting Computer Science for All. Our school has received samples of computer science games, robotics and STEM materials. In an effort to promote equity and ensure exposure to the entire building, it is our vision to create grade-level-STEM-CS carts.

We are asking for seven of these carts so students and teachers will have easier access to these materials.

These carts would provide instant access for classes who may not necessarily receive technology and STEM classes. There will be a variety of (plugged and unplugged) materials that students will have full access to use.
