Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Who doesn't love a gripping story about gods, heroes, and mystical beings? I know my students do! They enjoy reading magical stories, listening to the action-packed adventures of heroes from long ago, and visualizing the many events within these tales. That is why our mythology unit is such an important aspect of the beginning of the school year: it reignites their desire to sit down with a good book and absorb as much as they can within our reading block.

Students even beg for more time to read!

It feels wonderful to see how they learn about the ancient Greeks, their exciting myths, and still want more. This is why I would love for my students to be able to read the mythological graphic novels by Rick Riordan, as well as The Olympians series -- I know that it would help them better visualize the events, making stories come alive for even the most reluctant of readers.
