I Teach 4K! These students are the youngest and most eager learners of our school! They enter my classroom with great anticipation each day, hoping to get a first-hand look of what our day has in store! They have an amazing zest for learning and for exploring new and innovative activities every day! This not only makes my heart smile, but also drives me to "keep on keeping" on this crazy path called teaching.
I use a "thematic approach" to teaching my students and I create "learning centers" based on early childhood readiness skills.
My students learn primarily through play and hands-on activities. Our room is never "quiet" because I encourage the kids to use their language during their work and play.
My Project
Puppets in early childhood classrooms are a valuable means for promoting oral language skills and confidence in getting young children to open up. I realized this valuable resource the very first time I put out a few puppets. The kids gravitated to the puppets immediately and it was then that I realized that I would like to build my puppet collection so that I can change out my puppets with different themes in my classroom, and give them more opportunities to use them!
New puppets will promote limitless possibilities when my preschoolers bring them to life!
Every year I have a few children who do not speak English and I have found that I can use puppets to help them develop language skills through music, stories, and other fun puppet activities.
Puppets are my new passion and I'm already thinking of new ways I can incorporated different ones into my daily curriculum!
