This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students walk into my music classroom eager to play their instruments. All of my middle school students are involved in string orchestra, that involves playing the violin, viola, cello, and double bass. At this time, we are in need of shoulder rests, rosin, and new strings orchestra music.

I teach at a K-8 Center where students come from different Latin American countries as well as socioeconomic backgrounds.

Inclusion is also celebrated in our school. As a music teacher I teach children with different learning needs. Through strings orchestra is possible to implement differentiated instruction which supports students' specific learning needs which allows students to experience academic success.

My music curriculum consists or teaching both elementary and middle school students. My younger students participate pitched and un-pitched percussion Orff ensemble, as well as recorders, and the older elementary students are in the recorder, to my ukelele, and beginner string orchestra. String Orchestra is extended to middle school. Given the fact that the children are provided hands-on experiences, they come to my class eager and motivated to learn to play music instruments.

My Project

Please help my middle school orchestra students. We do not have rosin, shoulder rests, or level 2 and 3 sheet music. We need rosin for our bows. We have been sharing a small broken pieces this year. We also need shoulder rests; we have been using sponges, but these are all flattened out. Lastly, sheet music in the students playing levels will challenge them through playing beautiful orchestral pieces.

Rosin, shoulder rests, and appropriate orchestra method books and sheet music would make a difference in my students' music performance by challenging them through playing beautiful on-level orchestra pieces, as well as practicing and improving good posture and playing technique through the use of good shoulder rests.
