My Project

I want to make the magic of school come to life for every student! Flexible seating in a classroom directly influences engagement levels, as well as productivity. My goal for my classroom is to have a structured space, that also encompasses different student needs.

It is no lie that students can be squirmy, but having flexible seating helps students channel that movement into productivity.

They do not get distracted by other things in the classroom when their chair gives them enough movement to stay focused on the task or lesson at hand.

Also with family members who have ADHD, this would have been a game changer for them in a classroom setting. Instead of being the "difficult kid" because they couldn't focus and would get in trouble for fidgeting with things, they blend in with their movements, and ADHD is not something that sets them back socially.

I also want my students to walk into my classroom and be excited about being there. Having a unique seating arrangement made up of wobble stools, chairs, and yoga balls can be that simple thing that gets them excited about coming to school every day. My Title I students need to see learning as a way to launch their future in the right direction, and that starts with coming to school and enjoying it.

Overall, my goal in the classroom is to make sure every student's needs are met, and this seating arrangement is one way I can achieve that. I cannot express enough how passionate I am about having something so diverse in my classroom! I hope to spread the joy of learning through my students as I begin my first year of teaching!
