Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a large elementary school, in an urban school district, with 60% of our 580 students labeled as high-needs. Nearly 50% of students are economically disadvantaged, and over 20% of our students are identified as having a disability.

Our students are some of the most hard-working children I have ever met despite the challenges they face each day.

They remain positive in the face of adversity and motivate me to better myself, my teaching strategies, and our classroom environment.

My Project

I would love to help both kindergarten and first grade become published authors using Lakeshore's blank books. In these grades students are learning to write their own personal narrative stories. I want to give students opportunities to publish their written story in either a hardcover or softcover books. This will be a project that students will feel like real authors as we will be showcasing their publish work in our beautiful school library and with parents. As a dual language school students will be writing in both English and Spanish.
