Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love learning. They come in every morning with smiles on their faces, full of enthusiasm about what the day in front of them holds. The most significant thing about them is how much they love their school. We are part of a school community where the school is new and growing each and every year. The school we are a part of started a little over seven years ago and we are still growing. Our students love being a part of a newer school and helping to grow the community. They wear their school polo shirts with honor, and they love being a part of our community.

As wonderful as our school is because it is new and growing each year, it is extremely limited in its resources.

Each year as the school grows, the students grow older, and a new grade forms. Unfortunately, each year that a new grade begins, we have to start over from scratch. We are constantly scraping and scrounging around for resources and materials because we are building our school from the ground up.

My Project

I teach an amazing group of creative and hardworking third graders. In the age of remote teaching and digital technology in the classroom a lot of our learning and our work has become computer based. We are so engaged in our technological work, but we have a problem. We can't print out anything that we create. We can't hold and take our hard work with us.

We work so hard on writing, researching, book making, picture designing, science, and social studies projects.

But we can never print out anything we make. Our classroom doesn't have a printer. As much as we love creating all of these things digitally, we miss being able to have a hard copy of our work. We always have loved physically holding our published books in our hands. There is a whole other creative side we can express when we print our science and social studies resources and create projects hands on. We do such thorough and great research, but we can never print our research out and take with us. Everything we work so hard on is never tangible. We would love a printer for our classroom so we can have our work in our hands once again.
