My Project

My goal for this project is to create at least 125 wellness kits for our outstanding students who need essential hygiene products, a snack when hungry, or staples such as laundry detergent and dish soap.

As an all-girls Title 1 School, I see students missing school every day because they do not have basic hygiene items at home.

All too often, I have heard a student say, "I didn't come to school yesterday because I didn't have clean clothes," or because they had gotten their menstrual cycle and didn't have enough sanitary items at home to leave their house.

Offering students products that ease their emotional worry, meet their basic physical needs, boost their confidence, and let them know that they are cared for and loved at our school will not only improve school attendance but also improve my students' mental and physical well-being.

My students are outstanding. Despite the challenges many of my students face due to their socioeconomic status, they continue to be curious, intelligent, and ambitious. They work incredibly hard to defy the challenges they face, even when resources are limited.

Hygiene kits and a pantry for needed household staples will offer another layer of support and meet my students' critical needs.
