Hello, my name is Ms. Hernandez and I am a teacher at a middle school in NYC. My students are the most loving, kind, and respectful children who come to school excited to learn new things every day. Our population of students have disabilities that cause a delay in their learning abilities. Unfortunately, they also come from low-income families that can not provide for all their educational needs, especially through these hard times. For the holiday season, we are trying to motivate our students' using rewards that align with our educational goals. These items include sensory items that allow them to feel at ease while engaging in daily lessons. Writing tablets that help them improve their motor skills to improve their handwriting. They are building tiles that let them express their imagination without using words. Dolls, cars, headphones, and superheroes are all items that will be allowed during activity sessions, and some will be taken home during the holidays for families who cannot afford to provide them with these items. Students work daily toward a reward system, this project will reflect some student's rewards for leading by example. This will allow our students to reach their academic goals by utilizing items they love, in the classroom and at home. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
