My Students

My students come from low-income neighborhoods where crime is high, but their hope shines bright. They are eager to learn, love to read and enthusiastic about their futures. My students have an innate desire to succeed, they just need support, love and dedication.

My Project

These materials are the foundations to a prepared classroom. Students learn best when they feel safe, comfortable and prepared. These materials can be used for virtual and in-person learning, seeing as though they are necessities that most students need (notebooks, pencils, etc.) If we stay virtual for the remainder of the school year, I am prepared to physically deliver materials to each of my 18 students. As a third grade ELA teacher, I spend most of my instruction time building my students' reading comprehension and writing stamina.

While my students are capable of meeting the high expectations I set for them, they will be done a disservice if they don't even have the educational tools they need to show up.

Having this project fully funded will help to enrich their skill building in literacy and demolish the opportunity gap so many children in inner city schools face.
