This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Currently, I am working with fifteen awesome and unique students! They all have different funds of knowledge that are reflected in their learning styles and needs. I have students who are more kinesthetic learners while others just seem to be like little sponges absorbing all content presented. My visual and kinesthetic learners have really made an impact in the classroom and in my life, and every day is a new experience. Yet, the tactile resources I can provide are very limited. This is why I have created this project taking every one of them into consideration.

This project will allow them a learning experience like no other, one that best meets their needs and learning styles.

Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times, they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component of motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.

The sandpaper letters and math manipulatives will serve as teaching resources for the students who are struggling with letter recognition and one-one-correspondence. The texture of the letter tracing will provide a more concrete letter formation and better differentiation among each of the letters.
