My Students

As you would expect from an urban school, the students at my school are a wonderfully diverse group of individuals. Some of them have hard exteriors because of their home environments, but are really wonderful kids once you make a connection with them. These students are the kind of students whom will greatly benefit from all the care that the education system has to offer. They are very grateful when they recognize that the efforts being put forward by the school and its staff have benefited them not just as a student, but as a member of society.

Many of my students love being in school because it provides them with the structured environment that they may not have at home.

Of course they would never say that out loud, but it is evident in the meaningful connections they make with teachers and others in the school environment.

My Project

Meade Middle has begun efforts to grow the performing arts programs, and part of that initiative has been to hire new music staff and open new elective opportunities for students. This year we have begun running a guitar class. We have plenty of guitars but do not have the storage for them, which has made the beginning and end of class routines more tedious than necessary. I would use these grant funds to purchase a guitar rack for these instruments so that my students can get the most out of their elective music class experience!
