My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My classes include students with disabilities, language learners, and students who require specially designed instruction, who require many resources and visual aids to help them throughout each lesson.

There are over 600 seventh grade students at our school, and over 2,000 students total! Each child deserves a chance at academic success and requires the tools to make progress possible.

My Project

Having the convenience of a printer in our classroom and being able to print out valuable worksheets and resources will greatly benefit my students. Students need to be able to manipulative and practice strategies learned in the classroom at their levels. Text can be adapted and printed within the classroom and become immediately available with the use of wireless printing. Once the materials are printed, students will be able to annotate and interact with the printed information. Students who utilize digital tools will now have the ability to print their work and feel accomplished.

My request for a printer and toner are a necessity in making the curriculum both available and accessible to all of my students who have special needs.

They will be able to have something tangible in front of them that they can always refer to when they need to review. Students always prefer captivating worksheets as opposed to dense textbooks that may be difficult to read. With this printer, we can provide our very diverse group of students with the appropriate accommodations based on their academic needs.

I teach two subjects. English Language Arts and the United States History which cover a vast amount of text. In addition, my students are required to write within these content areas. Many students in my classes have underdeveloped fine motor skills and prefer typing. However, they do not have the ability to print...yet.
