This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach first grade to 24 students in a low socio-economic area. 12 of my students are English Language Learners and the majority are on free or reduced lunch. My students are from a Title One school. Many of them come from economically disadvantaged circumstances. Even though they face economic challenges, they come to school each day eager to learn new things. I want to provide them with every opportunity to be on equal playing fields as their peers in other neighborhoods.

My Project

I am requesting a classroom laminating machine and different size pouches to go with it. A classroom laminating machine will help my visual aids last longer and will save me time and money. I will be able to protect my activity cards, words for a word wall and math and sight word cards that help with automaticity. I will be able to quickly laminate supplies in the comfort of my classroom. We are getting a new Language Arts series which will come with a lot of materials. Since I am responsible for the new materials I will be able to protect the materials for years to come.
