Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are very talented and curious explorers of different ages and abilities. I teach music, which includes all of the students in the entire school. This project will benefit all my students, but it will benefit the self-contained classes that include students with disabilities the most. They love to let their wandering hearts explore every corner of the classroom until they are all worn out. I think that they listen in their academic courses even better when they are worn out. They dance and jump around and sometimes even try to do cartwheels. I need some protection for their little knees to stop getting hurt on our hard tile floor.

There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul, than the way it treats it's children.

Students at my school have experienced learning loss due to the pandemic and having to switch at least one of their school years to be virtual education. My school supported students who chose to remain virtual into the next school year and some students were away from formal instruction for several school years. The coronavirus slowed down our entire school's learning gains, and we all work together to make up for it. I can feel that the students are under lots of stress to perform and keep up with the demands to get back on track. Because of this, I try to keep my classroom with a fun and inviting atmosphere for all explorers of ranging abilities to enjoy every corner of our space together. We all appreciate how wonderful it is to be a part of the generous and loving community that DonorsChoose made for us.
