My Students

Our school has put together an after school STEAM club for students. We have 6 different cycles throughout the year that the 4th and 5th-grade students can apply to and get picked to work through a four-week cycle. In each cycle, we have a central theme and each week we do an activity that relates to the theme. One of our teachers has reached out to different people in our community to come and help teach the students to learn about different careers that are relevant to each cycle. In order to help our students achieve quality experiments and projects, we need to give our kids supplies that reflect our expectations. Please help us give our students what they need to succeed in STEAM.

My Project

We have many curious minds that love to question and explore. This year already, we have looked into coding and we are starting a cycle of agriculture, questioning, "where does our food come from?" The supplies we have requested are for our next cycle. We will have students design a prototype of a stage for a play. Our students will need to think about all of the moving parts in order to smoothly move through the whole play.

We want our students to have supplies that reflect the quality of work from them.

If we only give elementary supplies, we will only get elementary work. We are asking for matte board for students to have material that is easy to cut but sturdy. We are asking for the glue guns and sticks so that they will be able to quickly set their stages up and not wait for regular glue to dry. We will have students from a nearby high school in the drama club help our students use these materials.

In the future, we will also examine how sound moves through vibrations, we will be making cup phones and instruments with the cups. We will also look at the physics of Rube Goldberg machines. Please help us give our students a chance to explore science with materials that can give them real results.
