My Students

My students are so eager to learn. Most of my students do not come from the best backgrounds. They love to be loved and have the attention on them as much as possible. My students are incredibly intelligent, but have not always been recognized for it.

The school that I work at has an 85% poverty rate.

Most of my students have not been able to leave Springfield, Illinois to go on a vacation. My students have worked hard all throughout elementary school and I would like to give them a "Promotion Trip" that they will not be able to forget. My students are constantly working on their academics and constantly testing. I would love to give them a break and show them how much I appreciate their hard work.

My Project

My students need a trip to Chicago to see the Medieval Times jousting tournament to be recognized for the amazing work they have done all school year. Not only will my students be able to explore something they have never been able to explore, but they will also get to learn. Most of the time the medieval period is not taught until middle school. We begin to introduce it in fifth grade. Having the students actually submerge themselves into that culture will teach them more than I could ever teach them while we are sitting in a classroom.

I know I have said this a lot, but my students will be able to experience something could probably not get to experience otherwise.

This could change their lives in so many different ways. My students might be able to see that they can get out of Springfield, Illinois and make a huge difference. My students may also see that they do not want to make a difference elsewhere.
