Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are bold, active, and hardworking. They are enthusiastic learners who are drawn to fun and loving learning environments.

They have been away from their traditional classroom setting since March 13 and have been able to stay in touch through our virtual classroom meetings.

My students have shown resilience during these uncharted times. They did not expect to end the school year away from their classroom and their friends. Most have adapted to our extreme circumstances.

My Project

Summer is an important time for children to continue reading to improve their language and reading comprehension skills. Most of my students are fluent readers who enjoy reading for pleasure. They enjoy reading all genres of literature and show interest in both fiction and nonfiction books. As the end of the school year approaches, I would like to provide my students with books to continue to support their love for reading.

Chapter books help develop reading stamina, academic vocabulary, the love for reading, empathy, and a vivid imagination.

I would like my students to be avid readers. Most of my students might not have Internet access during the summer break. Therefore, most of the online support sites we use for reading practice will not be available to them. The Los Angeles Public Library system will remain closed and will not be permitted to reopen until it is deemed safe by local health officials. Help me set my students up for success.
