Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Title I, public middle school where students come from a variety of economic, societal, and family backgrounds. Many of our students are bilingual, and on free or reduced price lunch. Our choir is a great representation of the diversity at our campus.

Our middle school choir room is a safe learning environment where success, excellence, friendship, and lifelong memories happen, no matter the challenges these students face every day at home.

Our school is consistently one of the top-performing schools in the district, when it comes to academics and fine arts, every year. This is directly related to our dedicated teachers, high expectations, and commitment to our students.

My Project

All of our students have room for progress in their reading abilities, and I want to meet them where they're at with subjects that will captivate their attention. Students will be able to connect to these stories even more by singing selections from these composers and popular artists. These books will provide opportunities for music history and writing.

These books will help instill a love of reading in my choir and study hall classes, by offering them opportunities to explore topics they already love.

These books will help us do our part in increasing literacy rates for students across our campus and community.
