My Students

My Student Support Classroom provides a safe, nurturing, non-traditional learning environment for students in third grade through sixth grade with a variety of needs: cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and/or physical. Our classroom is part of a larger school community that promotes inclusion and acceptance for all.

My students are inquisitive, creative, and on their way to becoming self-directed learners.

Each of them has a unique personality and individual talents that set them apart from each other. Their perseverance and determination to tackle life's challenges is something that I admire!

My Project

When you enter my classroom, you will not be stepping foot into a traditional classroom with rows of desks. You will not see a picture perfect room with everything neatly organized. What you will find is a classroom filled with "CHOICE."

"CHOICE" is our classroom motto; everything we do or say is a "CHOICE." The books I have selected are directly related to the various needs my students have.

Such books as, "A Little Spot of Anxiety" or "A Little Spot of Confidence" are going to provide my students with age appropriate tools to help them better understand their feelings and how to over come the challenges they may have. The variety of books within the series touch upon the many feelings we all experience at one time or another. These materials will provide great support to Social Skills Lessons and also as independent reads for kids when appropriate.

Another building block in which my Student Support Program is founded on is the concept of Socialization. We have time dedicated each week aimed at encouraging appropriate interactions between our students. Games such as Uno, Guess Who, and Monopoly require people to work together for a common goal, all the while, promoting sportsmanship, and fun!
