Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Social Studies to students in grades K-5 in my very own hometown, the Norwood section of the Bronx. My students are motivated, dedicated, funny, and kind. Each of them has something unique to bring to the table. They come from various cultural backgrounds, creating a truly unique and diverse classroom. Many of them lack access to educational resources at home, which motivates me to provide various tools for them even more.

My students are part of a large school community of approximately 700 students.

We learn together in a K-5 school that does the best it can for our low income population. Our school has a large ENL population and high needs for differentiation and authentic learning experiences. We diligently work together to deliver the best for each and every one of our students.

My Project

Teachers Pay Teachers is an online shop for teachers by teachers. Valuable resources in all content areas are offered to supplement and differentiate learning in the classroom and for remote learning.

Having access to online instructional material will help me supplement our outdated social studies curriculum while promoting current day standards of cultural diversity, equity, and civics.

I plan to use these resources to adorn our school's lobby in recognition of cultural awareness months, and initiate projects with my students in grades K-5 highlighting equity, civics, and people in history and their contributions. This gift card will grant me access to materials that will truly enhance my teaching practice and the learning process.
