My Project

My college level dual enrollment class is required to complete volunteer hours of service in order to earn college credit. Students will read to preschoolers the two donated kindness books with the purpose of teaching empathy, respect and making a positive difference. My students will also volunteer with senior citizens and assist them with social activities. Once the field work hours are complete, students will celebrate their experience with a community party with donated snacks and a compassion discussion.

Specifically, students will discuss how their volunteer hours allow them to see through another person.

Students will also discuss the days for which they recorded the greatest number of kind acts and what made these days different from other days. Each time a student participates in volunteer hours they will record it in their notebook and count how many kind acts they performed.
