Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting calming tools to support my students with special needs, especially those with autism and emotional challenges. These items will help them manage anxiety, improve focus, and enhance their learning experience in the center and their classrooms.

The calming tools I am requesting will significantly enhance the learning experience for my students with special needs.

The carpet will provide a comfortable learning area for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten students with special needs, helping them stay calm and focused during lessons. This colorful space will promote participation and a sense of community. The calming kit will include sensory tools like emotion balls, fidget toys, and visual timers for self-regulation. The chair band will support discreet movement for seated students. Together, these resources will help students manage their emotions and improve their learning experience.

The goal of this project is to create a supportive learning environment that empowers students to manage their emotions. By using calming tools, I aim to enhance focus, reduce disruptive behaviors, and improve academic performance. I also want to foster a sense of community in the classroom, where students feel safe expressing their needs.

My students are unique individuals with diverse abilities and challenges. They possess strengths, creativity, and resilience, often facing sensory sensitivities and self-regulation difficulties. Each has their own way of engaging with the world, and it's my goal to foster an inclusive environment that nurtures their individuality. By providing calming tools, we can help them unlock their full potential and inspire a love for learning beyond the classroom.
