Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

High school is a time full of milestones on the road to adulthood. Every senior will face new challenges once the school year ends. Prom is a staple event in every high school. For students on the spectrum, this can be a daunting event. Planning an event with their needs in mind with items such as acrylic drinkware, plain table cloths and runners, secure nonslip chair covers, and artificial ivy garland can ensure an elegant environment with minimal impact on sensory needs.

As a teacher, I want my students to have the best experience and feel seen and safe at the same time.

Providing a smaller event with mindful decor and safety in mind will allow a space for my students to enjoy a joyous closing event such as prom with their neurotypical peers.

It will be so gratifying to provide, up to the last moments of their high school career, a space for them to be themselves and have fun after 4 years of hard work. Providing a backdrop, stand, PROM marquee and decor can help us capture those wonderful memories for years to come.
