This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I'm currently teaching 4th grade at an inner city school in Harris County where students have limited resources and come from a low socio-economic background. The community is predominantly Hispanic and 100% of the students receive free lunch.

Our city was currently hit by Hurricane Harvey and we are in need of good and reliable classroom resources.

I want to make a difference in their lives by providing them with an education that will challenge and sharpen their knowledge and skills.

My Project

The projector in our classroom is very old and not functioning properly. It was purchased by our district many years ago and it turns off almost daily during instruction or during our interactive activities. We have to disconnect it and wait a few minutes for it to work again. At times the lighting changes color and we have to turn off the classroom lights in order to see the projection. This means my students have to write without overhead lighting when we use the projector. The other flaw with our projector is the image quality. There is no way to sharpen the focus on our board so everything looks fuzzy. The addition of an Epson digital projector will change all that! This projector is nearly twice as bright as our current projector. We will no longer have to work in the dark to operate it. In addition, the images are all displayed in high definition.

The new projector will add clarity to our interactive math lessons.

I also need a speaker for students to be able to hear sounds from videos and presentations. Most of our math lessons require sound in order to listen to presentations and with the speaker we will be able to finally listen to our videos.
