My Project
Project Warm and Cozy addresses the needs of those students who travel to and from school on the bus and on foot from all over the city without adequate outerwear and winter attire. Some of our students come to school in jackets and hoodies, because they have no winter coats or other outerwear. In the morning when students are making their way to school and temperatures hover between 30 and 40°, they have to make a decision whether to come to school or to stay at home.
The goal of the project is to provide students with winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves and other attire to keep them warm, and to remove a barrier that impacts school attendance.
Regardless of the season, students need to be in school to learn and to improve their academic performance.
Many of our students live in households where family income is limited, and they are unable to afford winter coats and outerwear. If this project is fully funded, the items requested will have a tremendous impact on student attendance and their level of warmth and comfort during the winter season.
