My Students

Educational choices should be just as diverse as the population they serve. Help me provide materials that give my diverse student population a choice in their learning.

My students are a diverse group of creative thinkers.

I teach math and science to 50 individuals. I want to provide learning opportunities that honor their unique learning styles. As an informed educator, I want to move my teaching practice far beyond the book report. In February, we will begin a learning unit that covers the Polar Regions. I want to provide the opportunity for project based learning. I want students to have a choice in how they demonstrate mastery of this unit.

My Project

I am requesting art supplies that lend themselves to artistic interpretation of the Polar Region. Students will have access to these materials to paint, draw, or create a collage of the polar animals and their habitat. I have also requested small toys and figurines so students can use dramatic play, if they choose, to demonstrate their understanding of the Polar Regions. I am also requesting books for research reasons. We need paint, glitter, canvas panels, books, and other materials to create a learning project to creatively show their understanding of the polar regions.

My students have access to pencils, paper, and computers for book reports and journal writing.

I am looking to provide art supplies and dramatic play opportunities to reach more learning styles. Please help my classroom gain the necessary materials so my students can have a choice in how their learning is assessed.
