My Students

In the Work Study program at SRHS, many of the students do not have outside resources to learn beyond the classroom. They are not involved in any extracurricular activities, usually due to a lack of funding. It’s great to see them get to do something outside their books. However, without the advantage of outside resources, the students miss out on learning beyond the classroom. We recently started using the Cricut to create holiday ornaments and the students were so proud of their work when they were finished.

My Project

A new program was developed to teach the students how to use the Cricut cutting machine to make crafts and learn how to sell the crafts in the community. The program was designed to help the students learn how to plan for and create the crafts themselves, as well as, understand buying supplies and earning profits. As the program has begun we have seen the students enjoy the projects and the positive effects it has had so far. The more supplies we have, the more crafts we can make, and the more the students will learn and understand the Cricut machine and its benefits.
