My Students

Students at our school speak over 30 languages, and over 80% are below the poverty line. Many use the school's laundry services, clothes attic, and backpack food program as a means to make ends meet. Our students overcome many obstacles and utilize this level of perseverance to find success in the classroom. I love their diversity and the love that they have for learning. This year we are beginning project-based learning, but lack organizational items. We can accomplish great things if we have the supplies needed to make project-based learning sustainable.

My Project

As we begin our first year of project-based learning, our classroom lacks the adequate supplies needed to store the many books, notebooks, posters, and hands-on materials to enhance student success. The students can store all PBL-related books and student math in the bookcase and all the student math notebooks and project learning procedures in the math cubes, by class section. We currently only have old, dirty, and broken storage containers.

I plan to cover the cost of everyday items (pencils, posters, markers, charts, etc.).

A recent shopping trip made me realize a purchase of a book case and storage cube is beyond my means at this time.
