Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The items requested are a range of books, activities, and supplies. Having new and updated resources in an American classroom is essential to keep our students knowledgeable about what is happening in their world since they have been around. The selected books will also help myself and other teachers plan to better give our students the education that they deserve.

Our students deserve an opportunity to learn about the real world.

Each quarter the students are introduced to new topics from the beginning of America to the Civil War to World War II. Some of these topics are difficult to plan lessons around because our content is so out of date that the terminology is above grade level or the activities are not engaging enough. The selected books will help make these lessons worth remembering.

What makes my students special are that they have a desire to learn. They want to be at school and they enjoy coming here. Having the right resources to build a lesson around makes all the difference. Having projects that they can collaborate with each other is essential to them retaining the information. These kids are from low-income neighborhoods and desire and deserve the same education as anybody else.
