Project Based and STEM Learning Made Easy with Technology!

My students need laptop Chromebooks to apply their technology skills. They also need an Apple TV 4 to enhance their STEM learning.

My Students

The majority of my students are poverty stricken with very little opportunity for life experiences outside of their own.

They are the students that want to get ahead in life, want to make a better future for themselves but do not have the means outside of school. They are the students that although they do not have much, are grateful for what they do have and appreciative of what is given to them. They are the students, that if given the chance, will make the world a better place.

My Project

The Common Core places an emphasis on using technology — not for technology’s sake, but as a tool for leap-frogging over lower-order thinking skills, such as rote memorization, to focus our energies on research and media literacy, creativity, collaboration, problem solving, and critical thinking. Technology also gives us the power to do things we’ve never been able to do before, like work in real time with experts and peers across the globe, express our knowledge in a wide range of media, and disseminate our ideas to far-flung, authentic audiences. These new capacities are revolutionizing the way we communicate, work and live. We must prepare the next generation not only to use these new tools, but also to foster the habits of mind that will enable them to keep up in their changing world. Instead, we must embrace new pedagogies that make the most of our students’ innate drive to learn, create and collaborate. Likewise, in a competitive global economy that demands innovation and strategic thinking, we must help students build their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. The laptops will allow the students to develop their researching skills on projects both independently as well as collaboratively. The Apple TV will be used in conjunction with our site's Project Lead the Way and STEM curriculum.
