This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When I think about my students, I refer to the Star Wars quote, "The force is strong with this one" and switch it to "these ones." With that mantra, my students come to school willing to try their best. My students make me want to be a better teacher.

I have been fortunate to have taught for many years, but this year, anything that involves any long term, thematic projects lights my students' faces up.

Anything that has to do with hands-on lessons or activities, my students absorb it like sponges. I feel that a hands-on approach to learning will greatly benefit my students and their curiosity for learning.

My Project

I need the Fire Tablets to use to program our robot and machine kits. The goal is to build a classroom community where every student has an input on what is created. The students will use the tablets during science during the unit on forces and motion and I also plan to use this resource to help promote community building, cooperation and teamwork.

By using the software that comes with the sets, I will put the program in the tablets and use it to control the various machines or robots.

I plan to have the students apply the Scientific Method steps and make conclusions based on what was observed and tested. By having this resource, this will give my students a chance to have a hands on approach to learning about simple and complex machines and have fun learning it. This will benefit the students because the students will be motivated and engaged. At the end of the day, isn’t that what we want our students to be?
