Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a wonderful group of 4th graders. They are eager and motivated to learn. My goal is to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for my students to give the best that they possibly can, every day.

I have several English Language Learners that fall significantly below the grade level in most (if not all) academic areas.

This means I need to provide the accommodations they need to learn the 4th grade material (which is sometimes much higher than they're able to grasp). I want to learn more so that I can help all of my students be successful.

As a teacher, I try to always keep the compassion alive in me, especially for my students. We see these children every day and sometimes don't know their struggles, their worries (tests can be a lot of pressure!) and there is no better way to connect with your students than understanding them. Doing so, I am learning on a daily basis that they need things that I cannot provide on my own. That is where generous donors from DonorsChoose.org come in--they (you) make this a reality for them. My Project

I am requesting this laptop for two major reasons: to further my education as a teacher and seek permanent certification in the state of Florida. With this laptop, I will be able to pursue a specialist degree in elementary education with an emphasis on curriculum and instruction.

Over the course of two years, I will expand my current masters in education degree to include extensive training and development that is focused on the process of developing and executing appropriate curriculum and instructional strategies on the Elementary level.

In addition, I am required to take a series of state issues exams in order to obtain a permit certification in the state of Florida. With this laptop, I will be able to complete the required training and courses that will prep me to pass these exams and continue to teach. Lastly, I am seeking an ESOL Endorsement through the State of Florida, which includes a series of six online courses. Ultimately, this endorsement will prepare me to better serve and educate the English Language Learners (ELL’s) in my school and community.
