My Students

We are a college preparatory high school, serve qualified boys of diverse backgrounds who live in the City of Philadelphia. B.L. offers its students a rigorous classical education, using contemporary pedagogy that prepares them for college matriculation and sets high standards for achievement, character development, and age appropriate conduct. The school nurtures a community of young men who value academic success, hard work, and the development of their intellectual, moral, social, creative, and athletic potential. B.L. is a school where young men prepare to become leaders through challenging coursework within a supportive environment. Our curriculum blends liberal arts, classical studies, and state-of-the-art technology as we cultivate world citizens for the twenty-first century.

My Project

An important component of the Boys’ Latin experience is the Senior Class Project. Seniors at B.L. complete a Senior Class Project which is focused on a research paper on a topic of each student’s choice, culminating in a formal presentation to a jury of teachers and peers, and may for some students even include time off from classes to participate in an internship or other fieldwork experience in the professional environment most closely related to the topic of the student’s research.

This year, I am asking for school supplies (binders and dividers) to help students organize their research and their source materials for their papers.

For most students, this is the first foray into a long-form formal research paper, using independent research and database searching, and I would like to be able to help students stay organized by helping them keep physical, manipulable copies of their rubrics, timelines, source articles, etc. in a binder. By supporting the students, at this final phase of their high school education, we are hoping to prepare them for the academic environment of college classes.
