My Students

We are a project - based, inquiry driven magnet school in Philadelphia. Students travel from all parts of the city to attend our school and be a part of our community.

As a project based school students are consistently completing hands-on tasks and are in need of many supplies.

Students work hard each day. They learn not just the content required, but also the soft skills that will help them after they leave.

My Project

This year my students will take a Problem Solving course to help them learn logic and problem solving skills for the real world. They will use logic everyday and practicing through games will allow them to take a break from problem sets and put their learning to use in a fun way. We will also use these games in all of my math classes and after school math club.

Students spend so much time on electronic devices; board games give them an opportunity to put those things away and focus on the logic required and in person communication skills.

Playing Connect 4 will require students to plan a few moves ahead as well as anticipate their opponents move. Set will allow students to create groups and be precise about definitions. After playing these games we will analyze the strategies and probabilities of winning. All of these skills are important both in and put of school.
