My Project

My students are building their problem-solving skills and Social Emotional skills. Using video games to teach and practice these skills will be life changing for my students. All my students like technology especially video games and it keeps their attention while reinforcing these skills.

My students are learning about having patience, building confidence, learn social norms, taking turns, and problem-solving/conflict resolution.

Video games reinforce having patience, it requires you to wait your turn while playing an opponent and practicing sportsmanship.

Also, video games help build problem-solving skills by making the individual playing the game think ahead, try different outcomes, use different strategies, work individually or with a team.

Problem-solving and conflict resolution are also skills video games provide. The person playing the game has to figure out how to solve whatever problem they are facing either winning a sports game, racing, a puzzle, a mystery that needs to be solved, etc. The player also has to communicating appropriately with a team or partner and even with the person they are playing against, no matter if you win or lose. My students will benefit greatly from the use of video games in the classroom with school appropriate content only such as sports, mysteries, educational, puzzles, etc.
