Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a low income/high poverty community. Our school gives 100 percent of the children free breakfast and lunch.

By the age of five, many of them have already faced challenges that some adults have never had to faced and will never face in their lives.

Still these students come to school with smiles and are anxious to learn. These experiences do not hold them back from being great students.

I have thirty kindergarten students in my classroom and more than 50 percent are English Language Learners. My students come to school each day ready to explore the world around them and eager to learn. My students are very active and love exploring and enjoy discovering new things. It is amazing to watch their eyes light up when they learn something new and exciting.

My Project

Motivation is an essential skill to learning and in a world of instant gratification, some students get lost in the process. This project will help my students' with focus and engagement. They will be working with hands-on material to help them develop collaboration and critical learning skills as well as the satisfaction of working through something and seen the end result. I am requesting stem materials Gadget and Gizmo, Fairy tales problem solving stem kit, Design and build engineering center, Water play stem early learning kit, and design and play stem cars for young architects. This project will allow my students to explore and construct different gadgets as they build new vocabulary and literacy skills, as well as problem solving and critical thinking, all skills needed in today's changing world. Lets light up a spark!
