My Students

Students in my school come from over 80 different countries and over 50 different languages are spoken in the building. Needless to say, there are many low-income students that face many challenges daily.

Students have various interests, but one over-arching interest throughout the wide range of cultures is the love of art and being creative.

In a time where test results are so stressed, students are lacking the opportunity to explore this side of themselves in their subject classes. I'm hoping this project will provide students with the means to get creative in my class while exploring some mathematics.

My Project

Many students come to my classroom on their free time to do work and get challenges from me to push themselves to the next level. I have purchased some Rubik's cubes already and have the students wanting more variations to work on. I am a licensed math teacher and one of the most important skills I try to instill in my students day in and day out is perseverance and to embrace productive struggles. Through the addition of these puzzle cubes in my classroom, I can continue teaching these lessons in fun ways that will engage hands-on learners that may not fully engage with typical math problems.
