Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are caring, excited, and eager to learn. Our school is funded by Head Start and works with under-served families in Miami. My Pre-K students face a variety of difficult situations at home. They are in need of as much love and support as they can get as they prepare for Kindergarten.

My students come to class each day eager to learn and ready for new experiences that they may not get the opportunity to have outside of school.

They love to create art, build structures, and pretend play throughout the day. It is a joy to give them a variety of opportunities to learn something new. My students' time in the classroom creates a love of learning in each of them and a foundation for success as they continue in their education!

My Project

Early Childhood is a world of exploration for young learners! These engineering and problem solving activities will be used daily by my students. They will be located in an area of the classroom that students frequently explore during their free play time of the day. Students will have the tools they need to use their creativity in building. The LEGO people will also be used to familiarize students with different community jobs and careers that they could one day have. The engineering and connection toys will encourage problem solving in these students.

Giving these students a variety of tools to encourage problem solving will provide an engaging way to master skills pivotal in the areas of math and science!

Mastering these skills early on gives these students the tools they need as they continue on their academic journey. My students may not have access to these type of toys at home. School is the one place where they can master these skills in a hands-on way.
